Nominees For The 2017 Latin Jazz Grammy Award

This past Tuesday December 6, 2016, The Recording Academy announced the nominees for the 2017 Grammy Awards. The award ceremony will be held on February 12, 2017 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. The ceremony will be broadcast on CBS stations around the world, with a pre-show ceremony viewable online.

The Latin Jazz award includes quite a few important releases from 2016. Here are the nominees:

Entre Colegas, Andy Gonzalez

Madera Latino: A Latin Jazz Perspective On The Music Of Woody Shaw, Brian Lynch

Canto América, Michael Spiro/Wayne Wallace La Orquesta Sinfonietta

30, Trio Da Paz

Tribute to Irakere: Live in Marciac, Chucho Valdés

There’s lots of great music on these releases; I’m glad that the Recording Acadmey really leaned towards quality in their picks this time around. Congratulations to all the nominees – it’ll be interesting to see who comes out on top!
